Advice to Policymakers

While states, preparation programs, and school districts must work towards creating and using TQ data systems, policymakers must play their role as well.

  1. Policymakers must understand that many entities at all levels of the education system simply do not have access to TQ data sets.
  2. Policymakers must understand that creating a high-quality TQ data system that can be used in conjunction with other data sets takes serious time, financial, and capacity-building investments.  
  3. Finally, policymakers must ensure that state and federal governments provide the necessary resources to all parties so that high-quality TQ data systems become the norm rather than the exception.
